About me

I received a doctorate in veterinary medicine (DVM), master of public
health (MPH), and master of arts (MA) in health and investigative journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am also a graduate of CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS), during which I was assigned to the California Department of Public Health.

After EIS, I worked as an epidemiologist with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and a reporter with three Wisconsin news outlets. I interned for one year with a medical communications company before launching my own business. My broad background enables me to target messages, write, and edit for diverse audiences, including clinicians, scientists, patients, caregivers, and the general public. I am equally comfortable performing technical and non-technical writing and cover a wide range of therapeutic areas.

Outside of work, I love to read, hike, swim, travel, volunteer, and cook (Indian food is my specialty!). I am a certified Community Emergency Responder for my county and am also involved in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work with a community center. My spouse and I live on two acres in rural southwestern Washington, where we grow fruit, vegetables, and native plants and tend a flock of vocal ducks.
